Open Windows, permanently resides at the Denver International Airport. This piece was created through a combination of programming, engineering, and aesthetics. Open Windows is an 11-foot tall, double sided, 8x8 grid of LED rings that makes use of a motion tracker to allow for an interactive experience. Using data from this motion tracker, algorithms were created that allow for users to directly influence the colors and patterns of the LEDs on each side, and eventually be able to play games with each other. Open Windows was created with a focus on harnessing interdisciplinary talents to allow the strengths of individuals to come together, with the goal of creating a novel piece of new media that straddles the disciplines of science and art.
